Give it: Your voice—hold the assigned hotkey and speak in the app or text field where you want text to appear. It does: Transcribes speech in the cloud, removes filler words, improves grammar and formats text for the current app. Context Awareness can use relevant text from the active app window when enabled. You receive: Polished text inserted where the cursor is. Next: Continue dictating across supported devices; dictionary, snippets and account preferences can sync. It does not: Transcribe fully offline or on-device; transcription always occurs in the cloud.
Best for: People who dictate frequently across many apps on Mac, Windows, iOS, or Android and want AI-cleaned output without manual editing.
Not for: Users who require fully offline/on-device dictation or cannot permit cloud transcription. For confidential use, enable Privacy Mode and review Private Cloud Sync and Context Awareness settings.

Privacy
Privacy: Wispr says transcription always occurs in the cloud. Privacy Mode prevents Wispr or third parties from using dictation data to evaluate or train models. Wispr maintains zero-data-retention agreements with third-party AI providers. Private Cloud Sync controls storage: when disabled, audio and transcripts are discarded after the request; when enabled, data is encrypted and stored on US-hosted infrastructure.
